Role of Women in Islam

Importance of a Muslim Girl:

  1. When a Muslim girl is born, she becomes a reason for her parents to enter paradise
  2. When a Muslim girl becomes a wife, she completes half of her husband’s Deen
  3. When a Muslim girl becomes a mother, paradise is beneath her feet

In Islam, we always talk about Prophets or companions who dedicated their entire lives to Islam and spreading Allah’s message. But what about their wives and daughters? We should also look into women’s lives of that time period. Women gave the same amount of contribution to Islam as Men did. These women are role models for young girls. They were the most pious and pure women. Allah loved them and rewarded them with Jannah (Heaven)

The Greatest Muslim Women:
  • Hazrat Khadija (RA) - Wife of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ
  • Hazrat Fatimah (RA) - Daughter of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ + Khadija (RA)
  • Hazrat Aisha (RA) - Wife of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ who recorded the most amount of Hadith we read today!
  • Hazrat Asiya (RA) - Pharaoh's Wife who took care of Prophet Musa (AS) without Pharoah’s permission
Khadija (RA)
  • Khadija RA was born to merchants in the Quraysh Tribe, which ruled Mecca
  • She asked Muhammad ﷺ to manage a caravan to Syria and offered him Marriage
  • She was 40 yrs old and Muhammad ﷺ was 25
  • She was one of the first believers/acceptors of Islam
  • Out of her service to Islam, she was awarded the best place in Paradise
  • She was an extremely wealthy woman but spent her wealth to help spread the message of Allah
  • “My religion of (Islam) wouldn’t have existed or lasted without the financial support of Khadija RA and the Sword of Abu Talib”
    • -Narrated by the Prophet ﷺ
The Daughter of Khadija (RA) : Fatimah (RA)
  • Fatimah (RA) was the Prophet ﷺ’s  favorite daughter
  • Allah made her purified from every sin and a perfect example of faith, worship, charity and purity for other women
  • She avoided every material pleasure and only focused on obeying Allah (SWT)
Short Story:
There once was a really poor man who begged the prophet ﷺ for food and clothing. The prophet ﷺ said for him to go to Fatimah RA, but the only thing she had to give was sheepskin. The poor man didn’t want the sheepskin and gave it back, then Fatimah RA gave him a necklace that was a gift from her cousin. The poor man sold it to a man named Ammar bin Yasir and received everything he ever needed (food, water etc.).Then Ammar gave the necklace to his slave and told him to give it to the prophet ﷺ. The prophet ﷺ asked him to give the necklace to Fatimah RA, who then freed the slave. The slave smiled. She asked why and he said her necklace fed a poor man,, made the poor man rich, freed a slave, and returned to its owner.

Hazrat Aisha (RA)
Narrated `Aisha:
  • Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "Do good deeds properly, sincerely and moderately and know that your deeds will not make you enter Paradise, and that the most beloved deed to Allah is the most regular and constant even if it were little"
  • Little Acts of Kindness and small good deeds done consistently matter the most!
Asiyah (RA)
  • Asiyah (RA) is the adoptive mother of Prophet Musa ﷺ,
  • She kept her faith as secret of her husband, who thought he himself was god
“Treat women kindly, they are like captives in your hands; you do not owe anything else from them...You have rights over your wives and they have their rights over you”
